FM Dendias meets Jerusalem Patriarch and Israeli counterpart Ashkenazi

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met with the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III during a visit to Israel and the Jerusalem Patriarchate on Tuesday, the foreign ministry announced.

“Ι met with Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III [at the Jerusalem Patriarchate,” Dendias posted on Twitter. “I underlined the protection of Holy Pilgrimages and the preservation of their status,” he added.

Dendias also had a meeting his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi, the foreign ministry reported, and is to meet Palestinian Prime Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Shtayyeh.

Later on Tuesday, he will take part in an extraordinary videoconference of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, convened by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, on the developments in the region.

The foreign minister will then travel to Jordan, where he will meet with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
