Main opposition SYRIZA leader on Friday accused the government of lack of strategy in the Greek-Turkish issues in an article published in Efimerida ton Syntakton.

Tsipras said that the escalation of the Turkish provocativeness did not come as a bolt from the blue, according to its strategy and the question is “which is our strategy?”

Referring to the Greek-Italian agreement on the delimitation of the maritime zones, he said that even it was right that the Greek government made the agreement, it was wrong that it did not proceed with the extension of the territorial waters to 12 nautical miles in Ionian Sea with the prospect to do the same in the southern and eastern Crete depending on the developments as was the Foreign Ministry’s initial plan.
On Greece’s agreement with Egypt on the demarcation of the maritime boundaries he claimed that it weakens our arguments before even we present them in the negotiation aiming at the resolution of our difference at The Hague.

In any case, Tsipras said, the lack of strategy is dangerous for the country and for our sovereign rights.
