Greece ranked second among 47 countries in the Blue Flag programme for 2019, as 515 Greek beaches, 15 marinas and four sustainable tourism boats won this year’s international quality award.

  • The Regional Unit of Chalkidiki ranked first in Greece this year, with 92 Blue Flags.

The International Commission awarded its flags this year to 3,779 beaches, 695 marinas and 67 sustainable tourism boats all over the world.

  • Among the Blue Flag sites in Greee are Akti Vouliagmeni beach in Attica, Komotini’s Fanari Beach and Alimos Marina.

The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s best recognised voluntary eco-labels awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
