Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vassiliadis enraged over neo-Nazis at OAKA stadium

Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vassiliadis strongly denounced the emergence of neo-Nazis in the game between the Greek national team with Estonia for the Nations League.

In a statement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA), he underlined that we should not leave any room to people nostalgic for Hitler to express themselves.

He admitted that what happened at OAKA stadium caused him to feel rage and frustration and noted that such phenomena will be prevented from occurring again only if there is clear condemnation from society and the state.

The deputy minister made it clear that it is not only the state that wants to remove such people from the stadiums: “First of all, what we are calling for is the implementation of the anti-racist law. There is an adequate legal framework. Moreover, we are examining with UEFA the new framework for safety that will deal with these issues.”
