“It took too long for Tsipras to respond, there must be resignations” New Democracy demands

New Democracy said on Friday that it took Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras four whole days for him to accept the obvious political responsibility he has for the national tragedy.

“In politics, however, in order for responsibilities to mean something, they are always accompanied with either resignations or sackings. Otherwise they are political tricks without meaning,” the party said in a statement.

“In any case, Mr Tsipras needs to answer two tough questions that all the people are asking: why did the government not take any preventative measures, even though everyone was aware of the extreme weather conditions that would hit eastern Attica? And mainly: Why, when the fire got out of control, didn’t they inform people to abandon their houses, resulting in us mourning today 86 people.”
