Arson might be behind the East Attica wildfires, says infrastructure minister Christos Spirtzis

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis announced a survey of building permits in Mati in an interview with 24/7 radio station.
In particular, he said that luxurious houses and buildings in the area had been built right next to the beach.
Spirtzis did not rule out the possibility of arson, while on the question of government responsibilities or any possible resignations of ministers, he said that all ministers had thrown themselves into the battle from the first minute.
“Within 1.5 days, nearly 2.5 thousand [building] inspections have been carried out in the affected areas,” he said, adding that on Thursday, more than 340 engineers were still continuing the inspection of buildings.
