Kikilias slams the FYROM deal: “A black day for Greece, Tsipras ignores the will of the people”

“Today is a black day for Greece because the prime minister is ignoring the will of the overwhelming majority of the Greek people and refusing to run such a major agreement past the Greek parliament, at the same time that his partner in the coalition government (Panos Kammenos) disagrees with this agreement,” New Democracy shadow defence minister Vassilis Kikilias stated on Thursday to the Greek television channel ‘E’.

Kikilias said that the agreement reached with the government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) was “very bad, as it gives the name Northern Macedonia to the neighbouring country, names its citizens Macedonians and their language Macedonian, while distorting history and creating irredentist expectations.”
