The harsh period of the austerity and the memoranda ends in 2018, says Tzanakopoulos

The harsh period of the memoranda and austerity that left gaping wounds in Greek society will end in 2018,” State Minister and government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

The voting of the prior actions will conclude in the coming days and on January 22 the Eurogroup will convene and be called on to approve the final agreement and give a green light to the ESM to disburse the next installment of loans to Greece, Tzanakopoulos said. Afterwards, he added, once there is a formal completion of the third review, negotiations will begin to specify the measures for alleviating Greece’s debt burden.

Greece is entering the new year with the best possible prospects and a planned-out and prioritised exit strategy from its eight-year adventure, noted Tzanakopoulos.
