Minister of Rural Development and Food Lefteris Avgenakis invited farmers to meet and talk in order to find solutions to the problems of the sector, in an interview on public broadcaster ERT on Tuesday.

“I ask the farmers to come so we can talk…we are all on the same side. We have many things to do together. We truly want to support the primary sector,” he said, and added: “We understand the problems. They are not alone. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is on their side and this has been shown through the measures we have taken so far.”

Avgenakis underlined that in the context of the 30th Agrotica in Thessaloniki, Environment and Energy Minister Theodoros Skylakakis will announce the “Apollo” programme, which concerns energy costs in primary production.

Speaking about the issue of changes to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP 2023-2027), the minister noted that Greece has already made improvements in six areas and is waiting for the EU’s approval of its proposals.
