“In today’s final and crucial electoral contest, and with the system of enhanced proportional representation that gives 50 bonus seats to the first party, the stakes are who and how they will govern for the next four years, but also the quality of democracy,” SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras said on Sunday, after exercising his right to vote at the 1st Primary School of Peristeri.

“What is at stake is whether the next day we will have a government that cannot be checked or a balance in our democracy and political system. Whether we will have a strong opposition to check the government,” he said and concluded:

“SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance is the only force that can reliably play this role. To support the needs of society, to represent the social majority, but also to play a balancing role in the system and in democracy. A strong SYRIZA means a strong society and a healthy democracy the next day,” he concluded.
