One-year-old girl found dead; mother arrested, appeared before Veria prosecutor

A one-year-old girl was found dead at the Aliakmonas dam and the authorities have arrested her 29-year-old mother.
According to information, the 29-year-old mother left with the little girl on New Year’s Eve, from a village in Alexandria, Imathia, where she lived with her parents, and returned the next day without the 11-month-old infant.
The police were immediately notified and investigations began in order to find out exactly what happened.
The infant was eventually located by police officers at the Aliakmonas dam and was taken to the Veria hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police officers from the Veria Police Department arrested the mother, who is said to be suffering from psychological problems, as she had been hospitalised in psychiatric clinics in the past. She arreared before a Veria prosecutor.
