Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is going to Brussels on Thursday to participate in the EU summit held to discuss measures to deal with the energy crisis.

At the European Council meeting, he will reiterate that the EU must send a clear, unified message to the energy markets that it will protect its citizens and businesses from extreme price fluctuations and that it needs to act decisively, now having a mechanism that will set a ceiling on the price of natural gas.
The government considers the package of proposals presented by the European Commission to be a positive, important step in the direction of a European response to the problem, which requires a comprehensive response, as the Greek prime minister had underlined in March with his letter, which included a six-point plan, to the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The fact that the price of natural gas is falling is partly linked to the fact that the debate in the EU on the price cap remains open.
