Actions by Turkey that violate Greece and Cyprus’ sovereign rights can’t be tolerated, Nikos Androulakis says

The departure of the Turkish drill ship ‘AbdulHamid Han’ from the port of Mersin, Turkey, and the threats for researches constitute a new significant escalation from the Turkish leadership, opposition PASOK-Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis stated on Tuesday.

“Actions that violate the international law and Greece and Cyprus’ sovereign rights cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. The international community should stop burying its head in the sand before President Erdogan’s constant provocations,” he underlined.

“The appeasement policy is an impasse. Specific deterrence initiaves are needed that will highlight a solid protection front of the international law as the imposition of a weapons embargo on Turkey by the European countries,” he said, adding that “the Greeks do not ask for solidarity, but we demand it as we offer it generously in similar cases that put the EU security at stake.”
