Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis wrapped up a visit to Epiros Region on Friday with a meeting with local government officials.

Mitsotakis paid a visit earlier in the day to the new vaccination megacenter in Ioannina, and to the Research and Technology Center founded in the city region by the global software company TeamViewer.

He was also briefed on the progress of major projects in the area and met with local residents as well.

“Greece is coming out of a national trial and tribulation, in which we mourned fellow-citizens who lost their lives,” he said of coronavirus victims, “thankfully fewer than those in several other European cities.” The pandemic left problems in its passing, but also created new opportunities: “The Recovery Fund may be the most emblematic of these opportunities,” the premier noted.

Mitsotakis also reiterated his commitment to a new National Health System (NHS) that is universal, public, and high-quality, “a commitment that is true today more than ever – we must not forget the weaknesses of the NHS,” as pressure from Covid patients drops. As he noted, “now is the time to invest in a new NHS, with technology as the catalyst,” and he expressed optimism for the area’s and Greece’s future prospects
