“The government is with the rule of law and main opposition SYRIZA with extreme minorities,” government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni said in a statement on Friday, accusing main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras of “not saying a word” about SYRIZA MP Thodoris Dritsas and his comments about jailed terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas, a member of the terror group 17 November convicted for 11 murders.

“One week after the outcry over Dritsas’ stance in support of Dimitris Koufodinas in a personal post, in which he asked the government to violate the law and reserve favourable treatment of the convict serving multiple life sentences, Mr. Tsipras continues to remain silent,” Peloni said.
She also noted that democracy in Greece is based on sound foundations and its institutions: “We expect the main opposition leader to state his position without excuses and prevarication. His political silence raises questions,” she concluded.
