Τhe muncipal council of Mytilene voted for the establishment of a new small reception and identification structure for non-permanent migrants and refugees inside the municipality of Mytilene but far away from the urban fabric at a meeting late Wednesday.

According to the municipal council, the operation of the new structure will mark the end of operation of all current structures, camps and rented houses inside the city of Mytilene and around it. The capacity of the new structure and its geographic position was not specified.
Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarachi posted on the social media early on Thursday:

“Positive vote from the muncipal council of Mytilene for the closing of all current structures, apartments and the creation of a closed and controlled structure outside the city. We are leaving behind us the migration crisis with a complete policy for the reduction of the flows and of their repercussions to the local communities.”
