The first doses of the vaccine against COVID-19 will be available in Greece in early 2021 in parallel with the other EU countries, reassured Deputy Health Minister Vassilis Kontozamanis speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Saturday.

According to Kontozamanis “Greece’s participation in the common European supply in combination with the access to the products portfolio that the EU negotiates and agrees, guarantees the vaccines’ sufficiency to cover the population.

As he said “EU has already signed agreements with Pfizer and Biontech vaccine which has brought optimism to the world over its 90 pct effectiveness.

Particularly on Pfizer and Biontech vaccine, the agreement foresees that the 27 EU state members will buy 200 million doses of the vaccine with the option for the acquisition of an additional 100 million doses.

Kontozamanis said that the government is already developing a population vaccination plan according to the instructions of the National Vaccination Committee and other agencies.
