Three Potami deputies will vote for Prespes Agreement, party’s former MP Danellis says

“If there were no government to introduce the Prespes Agreement, there would have been no agreement,” independent deputy Spyros Danellis said on Thursday in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency’s radio station Praktoreio 104.9 FM.

Following his expulsion from the Potami parliamentary group over his intention to give his vote of confidence to the government, Danellis described the Prespes Agreement as a major opportunity for the country, adding that the national interest is above petty political interests. Referring to the constitutional changes FYROM has undertaken as part of the Agreement terms, the deputy said that it is not easy to force a country to change its name and its constitution.

Danellis asserted that the three Potami deputies (Theodorakis, Mavrotas and Lykoudis) will eventually vote for the Prespes Agreement.

Referring to main opposition, he said that it is moving further and further to the right.

He also foresaw that the Prespes Agreement will be ratified with 151 deputies, “provided that the patriotic conscience prevails over petty political interests.”

Danellis also said that he will remain an independent deputy.
