The decline of competitiveness, rising debt, the shrinking of the free economy, and the failure of deposits to return to banks prove the stagnation of the economy, New Democracy (ND) shadow finance minister Christos Staikouras said on Thursday, presenting an eight-point list of government failures.

“Unfortunately, at the government’s and the institutions’ partial responsibility, the economy is crawling in a state of total stagnation. A political change is obligatory, as is the implementation of a consistent and realistic plan that will lead to high and sustainable growth and the opening of good job position and to the upgrading of the social cohesion,” Staikouras concluded.
