Greece is launching an e-registry programme for leaisure boats, bill to be tabled on Parliament

Greece will finally launch an e-registry for leisure boats via an amendment modernizing the legal framework for the creation of an e-registry to be tabled by the government on Thursday, attached to a bill on central depositories.

Legislation establihsing an e-registry was originally passed in early 2014 but was never implemented. Finance ministry officials said the e-registry will be part of the Independent Authority of Public Revenue (AADE) and will be updated with the cooperation of citizens, the Merchant Shipping ministry and AADE. It will include all private and professional leisure boats under the Greek flag, professional boats under foreign flags and professional daily cruise ships. The officials said the e-registry will simplify procedures for boat owners and will offer statistical data to support the development of sea tourism in the country.
