Final success of the Prespes agreement is the government’s main goal, says Tzanakopoulos

The success of the Prespes Agreement is the government’s main political goal, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Thursday in an interview with public broadcaster ERT.

Tzanakopoulos underlined that the prime minister neither blackmails himself nor is blackmailed. He also said that there was never a dilemma of chosing between resigned Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and National Defence Minister Panos Kammenos.

The government spokesman stressed that the prime minister has a specific political direction and target, which is the implementation of the Prespes Agreement.

He added that Tsipras’ message is clear: he will not tolerate even an unintentional effort of destabilizing the government. “The government must go forward united, with a single political voice, in order to realize the political goals it has set for the post-memorandum period,” he noted.

Regarding the developments in FYROM, Tzanakopoulos said that Prime Minister Zoran Zaev is making a remarkable effort in order to achieve the majority needed for approval of the country’s name change, a key term of the Prespes Agreement. However, he added that if this is not achieved, FYROM must know that there is no other alternative.
