President Pavlopoulos: “Only a strong, united Europe can guarantee political coherence”

Only a strong unified Europe can ensure the institutional and political coherence of the European edifice and meet the present and future challenges, Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos said on Thursday at the opening of the conference on “The EU in the Spotlight: Europe and Public Administration.
The conference was co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government and the Office of the European Commission in Athens.
Pavlopoulos stressed that the current ominous situation within the European Union confirms the position that the survival and prospect of the European Union and of the eurozone depends not only on the economic and monetary progress but above all on the strength of the institutions of the European edifice who can guarantee stability and European integration.
“Moreover, and most important, only the realistic prospect of a strong united Europe can eliminate the forms of populism and / or neo-Nazism which emerge and plot against the cohesion and the future of the European Union,” concluded Pavlopoulos.
