Greek inflation rate at 1.0 pct in September Hellenic Statistical Authority said




The Greek annual inflation rate grew 1.0 pct in September this year from 0.9 pct in August and -1.0 pct in September 2016, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, attributed this development in the consumer price index to increases of 0.3 pct in food/beverage prices, 7.3 pct in alcohol/tobacco, 2.1 pct in housing, 5.3 pct in transport, 1.3 pct in communications, 0.5 pct in education, 1.7 pct in hotel/restaurants and on the other hand, declines of 1.0 pct in clothing/footwear, 2.9 pct in durable goods, 2.3 pct in health, 1.3 pct in entertainment and 2.6 pct in other goods and services.

The consumer price index grew 1.9 pct in September from August. Greece’s harmonised inflation rate grew 1.0 pct in September, after a -0.1 pct decline recorded in the same period last year. On a monthly basis, the harmonised inflation rate grew 1.2 pct in September from 0.7 pct in the same period last year.
