EU Commission reports ‘progress’ in talks with Greece

BRUSSELS (ANA-MPA/ C. Vasilaki) The Eurogroup Working Group (EWG) must be convened by early next week in order to give the go-ahead for the disbursement of a sub-tranche of 2.0 billion euros to Greece and approve the transfer of 10 billion euros to the Hellenic Financial Stability Fund (HFSF), European Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva repeated on Friday.

She said talks between Greek authorities and the institutions were continuing on a “political and technical level” and that there was “progress” in the implementation of measures included in the first package of prior actions.

In order for the EWG to be able to convene, the institutions must complete a “compliance report” that reviews the legislated measures from the first package of prior actions and reforms linked to the financial sector, Andreeva said.
