In memory of my friend Alexandros Petersen, slain in the Taliban attack on a Kabul restaurant on January 17. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family. They can be rightly proud of his tremendous talent, professional dedication, and genuinely good and decent soul. Alex was one of our finest interns at the Western Policy Center, when he first arrived in Washington, and whom I was proud to later bring to the Wilson Center Southeast Europe Project. Alex Petersen’s departure from this life is a painful loss, and we will miss him profoundly. May the memory of Alex Petersen be everlasting. John Sitilides
