Eleven of 16 Greek citizens and members of their families who were evacuated from Gaza a day ago arrived in Athens on Friday on a flight from Cairo, following the assistance of the Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry.

In a statement, the Greek ministry said the evacuation of Greeks through the Rafa crossing into Egypt on Thursday followed the minister’s directive, and took place with the assistance of the Greek embassy in Cairo and the Greek consulate in Jerusalem under conditions of extreme hardship.

Greek diplomatic services in the region remain in full preparedness to offer any possible consular help to Greek citizens, the ministry underlined in its statement.
