Threat Evaluation Committee meets over heatwave forecast Mon-Wed
Civil Protection Secretary General Nikos Papaefstathiou convened the Threat Evaluation Committee on Sunday morning, ahead of high temperatures forecast in Greece as of Sunday through Wednesday.
According to the scientists on the committee, the expected heatwave will be of a medium intensity, with temperatures rising in the interior of the Greek mainland to 40C and 41C, possibly reaching 42C on Wednesday.
On Monday, highest temperatures (40C) are expected in Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly. Forecasts for Attica show 38C.
On Tuesday, Thessaly, eastern Central Greece, and eastern Peloponnese may see temperatures rising to 41C, while Attica may reach as high as 40C.
On Wednesday, Thessaly, eastern Central Greece and eastern Peloponnese will maintain 40C-41C degree temperatures, the latter two even rising to 42C. Attica temperatures will range between 39C and possibly 41C.
