Culture Minister Lina Mendoni received the Japanese Ambassador to Greece Koichi Ito, on Thursday. According to an announcement of the Culture Ministry, the meeting took place at an important moment for the Greek-Japanese relations, as the “Year of Culture and Tourism of Greece and Japan” is already underway, while in a few days Princess Kako will arrive in Athens, as an official guest of the Greek government.

The princess’s program includes visits to many places of cultural interest, such as the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Holy Monastery of Agia Faneromeni in Salamis and the Museum of Asian Art in Corfu.

Additionally, an official ceremony will be held at the National Gallery on Monday, with Princess Kako as the guest of honour, to celebrate both the Year of Culture and Tourism, as well as the 125th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Greece and Japan, in the presence of the Ministers of Culture Lina Mendoni, Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Papadopoulou. Lina Mendoni will then host a dinner in the princess’ honour.
