Syriza’s vision focuses on a society based on humanity, democracy and justice, Tsipras says in Thessaloniki

This coming Sunday’s ballot will not merely determine who will govern the country for the next four years, but who will empower social resistances, noted SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras in his final public campaign speech at the port of Thessaloniki on Friday evening.
Furthermore, “who will keep society standing dignified and its expectations intact, he added, who will stand by the weak and the voiceless.”
Two different visions of Greece’s future are in contest this coming Sunday, Syriza’s and New Democracy’s, he pointed out.
Syriza’s vision focuses on a country, a society based on “humanity, democracy and justice,” and an economy “where the wealth produced will increase, and be shared fairly and equally among the citizens.” With workers who “live, work and are being paid in conditions of dignity and safety, and where small and medium-sized entrepreneurs will not be burdened by taxes that only serve to enrich cartels.
In contrast, he highlighted, New Democracy’s policy plan prioritizes the elites’ profits “over the lives of the many,” and considers the notion of growth and development in a context of reducing the rich people’s taxes and providing them with ample funding while axing labor costs, “making way for profiteering private funds.”
This recipe, however, Tsipras noted, has only given rise to social calamities, and “is doomed to produce only crises, social tensions and a tremendous increase in inqualities.”
On Sunday, he noted, Greeks are voting “for the quality of democracy.”
