The first snow of the year has covered the landscape of northern Greece’s ski resorts as a result of the temporary worsening of the weather conditions.

This is the first snow to fall on the slopes and may not be enough for skiers, however it gives fans of winter sports a reason to smile and be optimistic that the ski season will eventually start.

The first snow fell on Tuesday at Kaimaktsalan, Seli, 3-5 Pigadia, Vassilitsa, Falakro, Lailias and Metsovo at altititudes over 1,500m.

The very high temperatures for the season kept skiers and snowboarders away from the pistes but if the current weather conditions hold and snow coverage improves, then some ski resorts will open immediately.
