SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras met with French Ambassador to Greece Patrick Maisonnave on Friday, it was reported on Saturday.
They discussed the significance of Greek-French relations as well as European and regional developments, while the main opposition party leader underlined the need for a decisive EU response to the energy and economic crises, as well as a European initiative to end the Russian invasion in Ukraine and promote a return to diplomacy.
Tsipras also emphasized the need for a cohesive EU-Turkey policy that includes the threat of strong sanctions and the interconnection of The Hague with the revision of the Customs Union.
He also highlighted the ongoing Greek-French cooperation in the defense sector, stressing that Syriza’s goal is to ensure the participation of the Greek defense industry in the relevant contracts with France.
