Greece, via its permanent representative in NATO, has delivered a stern demarche to the Alliance’s Secretary General in response to a post by the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) based in Izmir, Turkey concerning Turkish armed forces’ day.

According to a foreign ministry announcement on Wednesday, the post in question “in addition to being tasteless, was also unacceptable”.

“At the same time, Greek military authorities in NATO will proceed with a similar representation to NATO’S Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), to which LANDCOM is answerable,” the announcement added.
