Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias will be in Madrid on Thursday at his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Alvarez invitation, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Alexandros Papaioannou announced on Wednesday.
The main issue to be discussed in the third bilateral meeting between the Greek and the Spanish Foreign Ministers will be the developments in Ukraine, the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, the developments in the region of Western Mediterranean and Africa and others.
Dendias will also meet with the president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish parliament and the parliament president.
On Monday, May 9, the Foreign Minister of Kenya, Raychelle Omamo, will visit Athens which, as Papaioannou noted, Kenya is a non- permanent member of UN Safety Council. In the afternoon, Dendias will take part in an online meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Cyprus, Israel and the USA in the context of the 3+1 cooperation scheme. They will discuss the political developments in the region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the broadening of the cooperation in several fiels including energy.
On May 10, the parliamentary foreign affairs committee will convene in order to discuss the text of the defence agreement between Greece and USA (MDCA). In the afternoon, Dendias will hold meetings with new and outgoing ambassadors including the new US envoy George Tsounis.
On May 11, Dendias will visit Marrakesh to take part in the ministerial meeting against ISIS and in parallel he will hold meetings with his counterparts.
Finally, on May 16 and 17 Dendias will accompany Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to his official visit to Washington.
