US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has sent a letter to Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias to thank him for Greece’s contribution to the work of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which was deployed in Afghanistan, according to diplomatic sources.

In particular, the US Secretary of State in his letter acknowledged the valuable contribution of the approximately 3,300 Greek Armed Forces personnel who served, at various times, both in ISAF and later in the “Resolute Support Mission”.

He also praised the Greek Armed Forces, citing a series of activities that it has successfully completed, such as the execution of key infrastructure projects at Kabul airport, the provision of humanitarian aid, and security and defence operations.

Finally, there was an explicit reference to Greece being a stable ally of the United States and that, in this context, the vital cooperation that will continue in the future, based on the common values that govern the two countries, is highly valued, the same sources stated.
