Greece registers 436 new coronavirus cases; 91 patients intubated

Greece recorded 436 new coronavirus cases on Thursday of which 65 are linked to already confirmed clusters and 17 were identified at entry points to the country, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said.

Of the total since the disease made its appearance in Greece in late February, 3,170 are linked to travel abroad and 8,727 to already confirmed cases.

Some 91 individuals are intubated. Their median age is 68 years, 90.1 pct have an underlying condition or are aged 70 or more, and 25 are women. A total of 236 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic.

EODY also said that 6 people died, bringing the total of Covid-19-related fatalities in Greece to 430. Of these, 96.5 pct had an underlying condition and/or age of 70 years or more, and 160 were women.

Distribution of cases was highest in the Attica Region (219). Other regions included Thessaloniki (33); Ioannina (20) and Kozani (18) in western Greece, placed under further restrictions recently; Evia (10) and Kilkis (also 10).
