Wind power production increased by 1.5 percent in the first half of 2018, scientific association reports




Wind power in Greece grew by 1.5 pct in the first half of 2018, the Hellenic Scientific Association of Wind Energy (ELETAEN) said in a report released on Friday.

More specifically, wind energy power was 2,690 MW at the end of June, up 39.2 MW from the end of 2017, of which 2,369 MW operate in the interconnection system and 321.7 MW in non-interconnected islands. Central Greece remains at the top of the rankings for windpower units (898 MW with a 33.4 pct market share), followed by the Peloponnese (522 MW and a 19.4 pct market share) and Eastern Macedonia-Thrace (335.5 MW and a 12.5 pct market share).

The leading groups in the sector are Terna Energy (536.1 MW and a 20 pct market share), Anemos (Ellaktor) (285.5 MW and a market share of 10.6 pct), Iberdrola Rokas (250.7 MW, 9.3 pct), EDF EN Hellas (238.2 MW, 8.9 pct) and ENEL Green Power (200.5 MW, 7.5 pct).

Among suppliers, Vestas has a 50.6 pct market share, followed by Enercon (22.7 pct), Siemens-Gamesa (19.6 pct) and Nordex (5.6 pct).
