Mouzalas: “Greece will be consistent with its commitments to the refugees issue “

“Greece will be consistent with its commitments in relation to the refugees issue and will fight so that suggestions for exiting the Schengen zone are not on the table”, Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas on Friday said in statements to Mega TV.

Faced with this “enormous and unique historical problem”, Europe is threatened in its core; “this is obvious that it brings us problems,” Mouzalas said and added: “You are right to worry, I am worried too; there is a part of Europe which is really scared, in state of panic.”

He recognised that there have been delays in the construction of the hotspots, but he stated that the main issue is the reduction of migration flows. He announced that the hotspot in Mytilene is operational, the hotspots on Samos will be ready by February 10-15 and the ones on Chios and Leros will be ready some days later. Regarding the hotspot on Kos, he referred to the problem with the EU Commission.

However, he confirmed that all of them will be operational “much sooner” than the three-month period.
