The debate on the omnibus bill with the prior actions necessary for the conclusion of the fourth review of the Greek programme opened at the parliament plenum on Wednesday.
Legislation on all the prior actions needed to conclude the fourth review of the Greek programme will be passed by June 14, ahead of the June 21 Eurogroup, in a single draft bill using fast-track procedures, Parliament President Nikos Voutsis announced on Tuesday.
Technical issues related to the 88 prior actions for the fourth review of Greece’s bailout program will be the focus of discussions until Thursday, when representatives of the country’s creditors are expected to leave Athens, a high-level source of the finance ministry said on Monday following the conclusion of the day’s meetings.
The bill on the prior actions required to complete Greece’s third program review was approved in parliament on Monday evening with the 154 votes of SYRIZA, the Independent Greeks (ANEL) and independent lawmaker Theodora Megaloikonomou, who later announced she is joining SYRIZA.
The omnibus bill containing the prior actions required to complete Greece’s third program review will be send at the parliament’s relevant committees on Tuesday (Jan. 9), where it will be discussed until Thursday. Ministers tabling the legislation will also brief SYRIZA’s parliamentary group on the issues next week.
The president of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem on Tuesday said he believed that the ESM will approve the disbursement of the 7.5 billion euro loan tranche as Greece has met all the prior actions.
A number pending prior actions needed to close the program review were incorporated as amendments in legislation that has been tabled in parliament and will be discussed on Thursday, it was announced.
