National Defence Minister Nikos Dendias will visit Djibouti on Saturday, for the handover ceremony of the European Union Naval Force Operation ASPIDES. Italian Rear Admiral Massimo Bonu will transfer command to Greek Captain Konstantinos Pitykakis.
The ceremony will take place on the Italian vessel ITS Andrea Doria, with Rear Admiral Vasileios Gryparis, Commander of Operation ASPIDES, also in attendance.
Dendias is also scheduled to visit the Greek frigate “Spetsai,” currently stationed in Djibouti’s port as part of the EU operation. Accompanying him will be Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Houpis and Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras.
