Visit by Mitsotakis and Tusk to Belgrade raises hopes for Serbia’s European integration, Vucic said

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday said he was very pleased after his meeting with the prime ministers of Greece and Poland, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Donald Tusk, respectively. Vucic said that both premiers conveyed ‘encouraging messages’ regarding Serbia’s European prospects.

The Greek prime minister and his Polish counterpart attended a lengthy working dinner on Wednesday night, hosted by the Serbian President, where the main topic of discussion was Serbia’s European course.
“Mitsotakis and Tusk, who are today the most powerful prime ministers in the European People’s Party, relayed to me very important messages regarding the progress of Serbia’s European prospect. You know the scepticism that I often express around this, but following their visit new horizons are now opening up and new hopes are being created, if not for an acceleration of the process then for a different approach,” said Vucic, during a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Vucic said that during Wednesday night’s meeting, all aspects of Serbia’s European course were discussed openly and frankly, noting that the “encouraging” messages conveyed by the two prime ministers will have an impact on society.
Tusk, who is currently on an official visit to Serbia, said at a press conference that the Polish presidency of the EU will make Serbia’s accession a priority.
“The European Union cannot be complete without including Serbia in its ranks,” said Donald Tusk.
