Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis met on Thursday with his counterparts of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos, and Jordan, Ayman Al Safadi, discussing promoting their trilateral cooperation and managing joint challenges.

Meeting the context of the UN General Assembly Session’s works, Gerapetritis, Kombos, and Safadi expressed their grave concern over the escalation of the crisis in the Middle East that has spread from Gaza and Israel to the Red Sea, the West Bank, and Lebanon. What is urgent now, they agreed, is preventing its further diffusion, achieving a viable truce, and reducing the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, about which issue they discussed alternative ways of distributing humanitarian aid.

In New York, the three ministers reconfirmed their commitment to respecting International Law and the basic principles of the UN Charter, and agreed to intensify their collaboration in the economic and trade sectors.

They also agreed that the next trilateral Greece-Cyprus-Jordan Summit Meeting will take place on November 11 on Cyprus.

Following the trilateral meeting, Gerapetritis met bilaterally with Safadi, with their talk focusing on the Middle East crisis. Gerapetritis noted Jordan’s role of stability in the region and referred to the excellent relations between Greece and Jordan, which were also underlined during Safadi’s visit to Athens in June.
