Attica Region inspections of businesses for fire damage completed; compensation to follow

Since the early hours of Wednesday morning, three-member teams of the State Relief Committees of the Region of Attica are conducting autopsies on businesses that suffered severe damage from the fire of 11 August 2024, in order to compensate their owners immediately, in application of the state relief, as announced by the Government, Wednesday 14 August 2024. Inspections at businesses in East Attica following a large fire were completed on Wednesday by the Attica Region Committees for State Assistance.

The inspectors found that 10 businesses in the farming sector of East Attica were damaged, including 8 hothouses, 1 plant nursery, and a livestock breeding facility. They will each receive an initial compensation of 2,000-4,000 euros each.

At another 19 businesses in the northern sector of Athens, 7 were found shut or inaccessible and will be revisited on Friday, and 1 is having its license inspected. Of the 19, 9 will be compensated initially with 2,000-4,000 euros.

Inspections began on Wednesday morning and were completed 2 days earlier than expected initially, following a decision by the extended government meeting on Tuesday held at the Climate Crisis & Civil Protection Ministry and chaired by the prime minister.
