Wildfire in Amari and Aghios Vassilios, Rethymno rekindled

A wildfire in the wider region of the municipalities of Amari and Aghios Vassilio in Rethymno, Crete rekindled on Thursday.

The fire had originally started on Wednesday afternooon and was without an active front on Thursday morning.

The emergency number 112 sent three messages at 12:17 to residents of the areas Adoulos, Aghios Ioannis and Nithavris to be on alert, at 12:39 for the evacuation of the village Apodoulos and at 12:50 for the evacuation of the village Aghia Paraskevi.

It is noted that strong winds blowing in the area hamper the work of the firefighting forces.
