Tourism Ministry assurances over bankrupt German tour operator FTI

The safe return of foreign travelers who arrived in Greece with Germany’s FTI tour operator who filed for bankruptcy is the primary concern, the Ministry of Tourism said on Monday.

Regular meetings are already underway at the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) office in Germany. In Athens, the ministry and Minister Olga Kefalogianni remain in close communication with all involved parties.

The number of foreign visitors who arrived in Greece through FTI is estimated at 7,500. According to reliable information, these travelers will return to their place of residence upon completing their planned holidays.

The hotel owners hosting these visitors in Greece will cover the costs of their transfers to Greek airports. The bankruptcy of the German tour operator does not inflict financial damage on the hotel owners who collaborated with them, as the hotels have been prepaid for the arrivals of their customers so far.

It is worth noting that there are approximately 300 hotels in Greece owed a total of about 1.8 million euros by FTI from the previous year.
