SYRIZA turning 2024 EU elections into a wager for society, not the parties

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis on Thursday announced the electronic link where nominations for inclusion in the party’s ballot for the European elections can be submitted, in a post on social media. He noted that “SYRIZA is turning the 2024 European elections from a wager for the parties into a wager for society.”
The leader of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance stated that the upcoming European elections to be held in four months will be a “small revolution” for SYRIZA, “because the candidate MEPs will be decided by society and not by the closed party offices.”
More specifically, he stated that “if you want to be a candidate SYRIZA MEP, you can submit your application now, at https://www.isyriza.gr/submit_your_euroelection,” adding that “later, the members and friends of SYRIZA will also vote and select our candidates for the European Parliament.”
Kasselakis said that this process allowed anyone who so desires to become “part of the great battle of European Progress against European conservatism”, adding: “SYRIZA in Europe means a social state and taxation of the rich, versus the Right of the elites. SYRIZA in Europe means the end of dogmatic austerity, versus the Right of harsh fiscal discipline. Because SYRIZA in Europe means democracy and the rule of law versus the Right of illegal surveillance. Because SYRIZA in Europe means labour rights versus the right-wing labour jungle. Because SYRIZA in Europe means human rights and solidarity, versus fear and intolerance.”
