Development Minister Theodorikakos meets with delegation from the US International Development Finance Corporation

Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos met with a delegation of US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) led by Chief Financial Officer Mildred Callear, as well as with representatives of the US Embassy to Greece led by Chargé d’Affaires Maria Olson, on Thursday.

During the meeting, Theodorikakos praised the decisive contribution of DFC to the investment for the revival of Elefsina shipyards, underlining: “The strong and competitive shipbuilding industry is a national wager for Greece. We are one of the five larger shipping powers in the world and DFC has in practice supported this effort by contributing to the restart of a crucial sector for the economy and the national strategy”.

He also expressed the ministry’s intention to contine the cooperation with DFC and to examine any new investment proposal that enhances the strategic alliance between Greece and the USA.

Callear, on her part, described the investment of the DFC in Greece as a “real success”, noting that it is the first, but not the last project of the development bank in the country, and expressed strong interest in further investments.
