Hatzidakis: “New Democracy returns to the vice-presidency of the EPP after 20 years.”
Kostis Hatzidakis, the Deputy Prime Minister of Greece, has been elected Vice President of the European People’s Party (EPP). He accompanied this election with the following statement:
“I am deeply moved to accept my election as Vice President of the European People’s Party! Not only because I am reconnecting more closely with Brussels after 18 years, but also because New Democracy is returning to the vice-presidency of the EPP after 20 years.
I thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Vangelis Meimarakis, the Members of the European Parliament, and all colleagues of the New Democracy delegation for their support. I also extend my gratitude to the many EPP delegates who honoured New Democracy and Greece through my election.
Given that the EPP is the largest political group in the EU, this new position enables not only me but also New Democracy to participate even more actively in the decision-making process in Brussels, to the benefit of our homeland!”
