PM Mitsotakis to meet with Friedrich Merz on Friday at 19:30
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take part in the European Peoples Party (EPP) leaders’ summit in Berlin on Friday.
According to government sources, it will be a closed meeting of the EPP leaders ahead of the German elections, and also brings many EU leaders together ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the elected US President Donald Trump.
The same sources underlined the special interest of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ meeting with Friedrich Merz, who will probably be the next German Chancellor, while Mitsotakis is considered one of the most powerful leaders in EPP.
The meeting with Merz is scheduled for 19:30 (Athens time) on Friday, while the Greek premier will have a series of meetings on 17 and 18 January on the sidelines of the EPP Summit in Berlin. He will meet, among others, with the president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, the president of EPP group in the European parliament Manfred Weber and with the the president of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
