Marinakis: Greece-Cyprus-Egypt Summit taking place at a time when Middle East landscape highlights importance of trilateral cooperation
Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis began the daily press briefing on Tuesday by referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ visit to Cairo on Wednesday, in order to take part in the 10th Greece-Cyprus-Egypt trilateral Summit.
“Before the start of the Trilateral Summit, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will have a private meeting with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, while, after its completion, the three leaders will make statements to the press. The Trilateral Summit is taking place at a time when the landscape in the Middle East is being reshaped, further highlighting the importance of Greece-Cyprus-Egypt cooperation as an axis of stability in a troubled region,” he said.
Additionally, Marinakis said that the new Traffic Code has been unveiled for a period of public consultation.
“The aim of the regulations is the compliance of drivers, the imposition of fair penalties that correspond to the seriousness and danger of each violation, but also ensuring the collection of fines. Penalties must be proportionate to the offences and ranked according to their dangerousness, while there is an escalation of penalties for drivers who are frequent offenders,” he said.
Finally, Marinakis announced that the cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will convene on Friday 10 January at the Maximos Mansion.
