Kimberly Guilfoyle: The strong Greece-US relations will deepen under the presidency of Donald Trump

Kimberly Guilfoyle told Greek national broadcaster ERT she was very honored to be named by president-elect Donald Trump as US ambassador to Greece.

Guilfoyle told ERT she could not wait to secure the approval of the relevant US Senate committee for the post, and expressed enthusiasm over working with the Greek government to ensure that the strong Greek-US relations will continue to deepen under the leadership of president-elect Trump.

As a valuable NATO ally, Greece plays a key role in the European Union, she added, while pointing out that her appointment in Athens underlined the regard Trump has for Greece and reflected the deep and dynamic relationship between the two countries.

Guilfoyle referred to Greece as one of the fastest-growing economies in Europe, with a society that showed resilience despite the important challenges the country faced. She said that her agenda would focus on a strong economic development, education, energy security, and collaboration in the defense sector.

The nominated ambassador expressed her appreciation to Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, to businessman and close friend of president-elect Trump John Catsimatidis, and to leaders of the Greek-American community for their support and good wishes. She also said she was in the process of preparing to leave for Greece and wished to express her deep appreciation to Ambassador George Tsunis for his support and decisive role in securing a smooth transition.

Guilfoyle told ERT she couldn’t wait to start her mission as US ambassador to Greece, adding that she was enthusiastically looking forward to meeting the Greek people and visiting this beautiful country with a rich history. She also underlined that she would try to meet President-elect Donald Trump’s expectations, serving both the American people and the people of Greece as well as possible.
